Highlights at 2015 SNEC: High-Efficiency PV Modules, and PV Systems

The 2015 SNEC exhibition in Shanghai, China, is one of the most important PV tradeshows around the world. The highlights at this exhibition are PV products with higher efficiency, found EnergyTrend.

High-efficiency mono- and multi-si products are the focused products among the booths. JA Solar displayed 60-cell mono-si PERC PV modules with efficiency up to 295W.

60-cell mono-si PERC PV modules with efficiency ranging from 280W to 290W are also on display in many booths. Aside from mono-si products, multi-si PV modules with higher efficiency are also worth seeing. These high-efficiency products represent the demand for installing PV systems on restricted rooftops – with higher efficiency, owners of rooftop PV arrays can generate more electricity through the limited area. The more the power output is, the higher the profit is. As a result, PV companies are expected to focus on high efficiency products in foreseeable future.

Double-glass PV modules are another attraction at 2015 SNEC. The double-glass PV modules have no frames, reducing consumption of BOM material for aluminium frames. This kind of PV modules replaces backsheets with glass to increase resistance against salt and ammonia. In addition, the glass can also reduce the PID problem as well as the risk of module cracking. Moreover, the double-glass PV modules allow sunlight to penetrate through it so they are applicable for farms and other agricultural applications.

The downstream side is also an important part at the exhibition. As the Chinese government is strongly promoting solar power systems, PV vendors are trying to meet customers as many as possible to build a stable channel for selling their PV products.
