Win-Win for Wind Energy (Tower Conference 2014)

Thinking about the future of wind energy is exciting, especially when global experts, researchers and business representatives get together for in-depths discussions. The Technology Panel on Sept 10, 2014, includes Dr. Stephan Barth, Director of the Center for Wind Energy Research ForWind as well as Alden Woodrow, Team Leader of the Makani/Google X wind power project. Speakers from Bosch-Rexroth Corp., Keystone Engineering, Terma North America Inc., and more will introduce innovative concepts. TOWER 2014 brings research and operations together and the special rates for students and faculty attract current as well as future leaders to this top-notch wind energy event. 

The two days of the conference will feature a Global Panel, North American Panel, Technology Panel and US-Mexico Energy Border Panel; during which global wind energy professionals will examine various case studies of existing projects, pending projects, open issues, new financing mechanisms, legislative actions, and more.

Stefan Grothe, Technical Advisor at the German Wind Energy Association and Dr. Stephan Barth, Managing Director at ForWind will share their knowledge on the German wind energy market in general and highlight the importance of R&D in this sector.

Seatower AS sends the CCO Niels Brix who will speak about the Norwegian wind industry and their Cranefree® foundations.

Windguard North America will join TOWER 2014 to provide a detailed overview of the onshore wind energy costs in the U.S., Germany, the UK and Denmark.

Makani Power sends Alden Woodrow to inform about their innovative airborne wind turbines.

Mason Miller, Archeological Principal Investigator/Project Manager at AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. will discuss Shipwrecks, Viewsheds and Turbines: Cultural Resource Management in the Offshore Wind Industry.

Charlie Papavizas, Partner & Chair Maritime Practice, Winston & Strawn LLC, will provide an update on the application of the Jones Act to offshore wind farms.

Carlos St. James, Board Member, Latin American & Caribbean Council on Renewable Energy (LAC-CORE), Managing Director, Santiago & Sinclair LLC will introduce the Latin American wind energy market.

Soll Sussman, US Mexico Border Energy Forum, will showcase cross-border opportunities for Texas and Mexico.
