Wuxi Suntech Starts Producing Four Busbar PV Modules

published: 2015-05-27 11:40

Wuxi Suntech plans to replace all of its three busbar PV modules by four busbar panels. The upgrade will improve the PV modules’ power output and power dissipation. The four busbar monocrystalline module has recently attained the VDE QT (Quality Tested) certification, and the polycrystalline module will attain the same certification in June.

The improvement from three busbar module to four busbar module began in December 2014. The four busbar module can generate at least one power class (5W) more power than the three bubar module because the new module design provides less residual stress on the busbars, reducing the probability of micro-cracks and hotspots, making the modules less susceptible to malfunctions that lead to significant power degradation. Therefore, the current loss can be decreased by approximately 10%. At peak performance, the monocrystalline modules can produce 275W and 325W for 60 cells and 72 cells respectively, the polycrystalline modules can produces up to 265W and 315W for 60 cells and 72 cells respectively.

“We are proud to begin providing enhanced modules to our customers around the world,” said Xiong Haibo, president of Suntech. “Not only is the four busbar module more durable than its predecessor, the module generates more power. Our upgraded panel sustains higher power output at 200W/m2 compared to conventional module in weak lighting conditions.”

Suntech was recently named on Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s (BNEF) February 2015 Global PV Market Outlook list as a tier 1 solar company, based on its bankability.
