IBC Solar completes milestone project in Japan

published: 2014-12-02 10:59

IBC Solar, a global enterprise in photovoltaic systems, has completed the construction of the Megasolar project in Sakura, located north-west of Tokyo, Japan. The German PV expert has realized the installation as a project developer together with a local partner and now sold the 2.3 megawatt turnkey solar park to a Japanese investor. The Megasolar plant has been connected to the public power grid on November, 20h. The Sakura project is part of a series of photovoltaic plants that IBC Solar is constructing in Japan.

IBC Solar has started the development of the plant in 2013 in collaboration with the local-based project developer Deneb Renewable Energy. Finally the work has been concluded with the successful execution and turn-key construction of the plant carried out in cooperation with the Japanese System Integrator Yokohama Kankyo Design Co., Ltd. ( YKD ) in summer 2014.

IBC Solar pre-financed the project until completion and delivered more than 9,100 IBC PolySol 255 modules. Furthermore, the company secured the highest feed-in tariff for the Sakura plant which is guaranteed for at least 20 years, thus making the photovoltaic plant very attractive for investors.

By selling the Megasolar project to an investor, IBC Solar is driving its international growth strategy forward. “We are very delighted to have successfully completed the project in Sakura. It shows our ability to deliver top quality and ensure the profitability of photovoltaic plants at the same time”, said Udo Möhrstedt, CEO and founder of IBC Solar AG. “We are aiming on strengthening the successful relationships with our local partners to keep on promoting our activities in the Japanese market.”

The emerging Japanese market for photovoltaic energy has a strong demand for high-quality Megasolar solutions and EPC services (engineering, procurement, construction). IBC Solar and its local partners have noted this trend and have started the construction of three large-scale solar plants in 2014. As an international experienced EPC contractor, IBC Solar not only has the technical know-how, but also provides system prices to make the plants highly profitable – even in times of lowering feed-in-tariffs.

The project “Sakura” was developed and realized in accordance with the highest quality standards, and will be certified by the Japanese section of TÜV Rheinland. Herewith, it is assured that the plant complies with all Japanese standards as well as with IBC Solar’s own quality claims. For the near future, IBC Solar already has a project pipeline and is developing a series of additional photovoltaic projects in Japan. The German system provider is cooperating as EPC contractor and project developer with different local financial investors.
