Largest Solar Farm of Its Kind in North America Completed

published: 2014-10-09 12:11

AllEarth Renwables and Claire Solar Partners have together completed construction of a 2.2MW solar project in Vermont. The project is the largest in North America to utilize distributed inverters and dual-axis trackers to maximize energy production.

Utilizing 366 AllSun Trackers from AllEarth Renewables and highly efficient modules from JA Solar, Claire Solar found solutions to further maximize the farm’s output. The ground-mounted pre-engineered solar trackers, which track the sun throughout the day, produce over 30% more energy than fix ground-mounted systems.

The project was constructed under Vermont’s Sustainably Priced Energy Enterprise Development (SPEED) standard-offer program and will produce over 3 million kWh of emissions-free energy a year. AllEarth Renewables served as the EPC for the project and JA Solar was the provider of multi-crystalline 260 watt PID resistant modules, which outperform the peers’ modules by 5-10 watts in terms of power rating.

In 2011, AllSun solar trackers by AllEarth Renewables were utilized for a 2.1MW solar farm across the road from the Claire Solar site.
